Dlight offer acoustic solutions

Dlight entered the world of acoustics some years ago after recognising the need for acoustic solutions in the modern office space. In fact, Dlight were the lighting designers on the worlds first acoustic lighting fitout at Yahoo Dublin. Dlight were engaged by MCA to develop a lighting scheme in tandem with concepts outlined by Architect David Pearson. From the outset, it was apparent that acoustic solutions were required due to the large open-spaces and exposed ceilings – a characteristic that is present in many modern office spaces today.

After extensive research, Dlight engineers proposed a luminaire that achieved all of the requirements – low-energy consumption, performance, aesthetics, fluidity and acoustic properties. The bespoke Ringo Star acoustic luminaire was then born, the overall size of the luminaire was increased to facilitate an acoustic panel.

In more recent times, Dlight worked on a prestigious project at Jones Engineering HQ on Pembroke Road, Dublin 4. The project consisted of both interior and exterior illumination whereby Dlight engineers immediately recognised the requirement for acoustic solutions throughout the open space office areas. Once again, the bespoke Ringo Star Luminaire was the acoustic solution of choice!

Partnering with Slalom

Suspended acoustic solution

Our team recognised Slalom as one of the leading manufacturers of acoustic solutions. The fact that many of their solutions are made from natural and recycled fibres is a big plus for us here at Dlight.

Slalom’s sound-absorbing products have the ability to help boost concentration, productivity and comfort while providing an attractive aesthetic for the design-conscious. This enables modern office spaces to maintain the flexibility of open spaces while providing acoustic comfort for each type of function.

All Slalom sound-absorbing panels are tested according to specifications: UNI EN ISO 354: 2003, UNI EN ISO 11654: 1998. When it comes to product design, shapes and performance are closely studied by Slalom’s research team. Their commitment is to offer attractive products with basic and clean lines that please us from an aesthetic and performance perspective. The wide choice of fabrics and overall attention to detail allows us to offer a look that suits the intended space. As we know colour and shapes communicate character, attitude and emotion – with a large selection of products with bespoke options, there’s something to suit every space within the Slalom range.

Alike Dlight, Slalom also thinks Green!

Another factor that led Dlight engineers to Slalom was their commitment to protecting the environment and human well-being. Acoustic ranges are developed with the mindest that each product meets the following three criteria:

  1. The product has a key usage
  2. The product is durable
  3. The product can be recycled

Slalom products are also certified GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD GOLD. The GREENGUARD Certification Program gives assurance that products designed for use in indoor spaces meet strict chemical emissions limits, which contribute to the creation of healthier interiors.

Achieving GREENGUARD Certification gives credence to manufacturers’ sustainability claims, backing them with empirical scientific data from an unbiased, third-party organization.

GREENGUARD GOLD offers stricter certification criteria, considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities.

Why invest in acoustic solutions?

Hospitality acoustic solution

Considering that a large percentage of businesses operational costs are allocated to salaries and benefits, anything that improves productivity is a worthwhile investment.

Good acoustic solutions have been linked with the following benefits:

  • Increased Concentration
  • Increased Productivity
  • Improved Privacy
  • Reduced Stress

There are many sources of distraction and discomfort for employees in the modern office and noise is considered to be one of the greatest causes. Disruptive sound and noise pollution have been a growing concern amongst office-workers in recent years – Phones ringing, computer humming, chatter, echoes and even external traffic to name a few. There are many solutions to improving the acoustics of your office, talk to a member of our team to learn more.
