Belgian lighting manufacturer Kreon, located in Opglabbeek, Belgium, has announced its acquisition of Swiss lighting company Belux, effective Jan. 1, 2016. According to the press release, “Kreon plans to maintain the brand name, product strategy and orientation of Belux and will operate in the market with the dual brands Kreon and Belux.”
Belux, which was founded in 1970, provides the right complement to Kreon’s portflio of architectural lighting and integrated metal ceiling systems for the high-end architecture market. The company has worked with a number of internationally recognized architects and designers, including Frank Gehry, Naoto Fukasawa, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Herzog & de Meuron, and Hella Jongerius, to produce standout luminaires. Both companies will be showing new products at the upcoming Light+Building in Frankfurt, March 13 – 18.
