Dropbox Studios

One Park Place, Dublin

With remote working remaining as part of the new working model, many companies have changed how they operate and adapted to a new working culture. Dropbox have embraced this change and are redesigning their workplace to make this new model work, giving their team a place to come for collaboration.

Instead of offices, in collaboration with IA Interior Architects, Dropbox revamped their Dublin space, “Dropbox Studios”. This desk free space is designed for collaboration, meetings and social interaction – conference rooms, event spaces, break out areas to connect in between meetings.

We were tasked with supplying the lighting on this project. The main lighting we provided was Artemide’s Alphabet of Light Systems. IA, Interior Architects had a clear vision of the design they wanted for their clients and it was Dlight’s task to liaise with Artemide, to ensure all basis were covered with this very specific lighting system. Artemide is one of the most known illumination brands in the world, known for its “The Human Light” philosophy. The Alphabet of Light, a bespoke system which can continue to grow, adding new elements both linear and curved to the lighting structure. The vision for this lighting system, was that the light travelled and meandered along the corridors and open spaces, navigating the way to various spaces, creating a pathway and sense of discovery.

Lightnet was utilised for the office linears as they offer bespoke sizes and with their high efficiency, the impact on the environment is kept to a minimum. The liquid line G3 pendant luminaire along with the microprismatic diffuser gives the end user plenty of diffused light with a reduction in glare which falls in line with CIBSE lighting guides and recommended lighting levels for office spaces of less than 19. (UGR<19). Full Dali lighting control was a must on this project to ensure lighting would dim when the area wasn’t occupied, saving more energy and costs while also allowing for a fully functional office space. The lighting solution was critical to the design of this project. Fit Out Awards 2022 – Project of the Year Medium Office
