Shire Pharmaceuticals has published its planning application for its manufacturing facility outside Dunboyne, announced in April.

The biopharmaceutical facility is proposed for Piercetown, Craddockstown and Ballymagillen on the old N3, now the R147 and the site includes the former Peters family holding.

The plans include a two-storey production building of 17,445 square metres, to be built in two phases; a two-storey warehouse facility, also in two phases; a three-storey laboratory and administration building 12,453 square metres; car parking for 496 cars, and a temporary construction car park for 420 cars, as well as a covered bicycle for 100 bicycles.

Ancillary buildings include a bunded tank, farm, water and wastewater and oil storage tanks. Shire plans to expand its global biotechnology manufacturing capacity over the next four years by investing US$400 million in Ireland to meet the rapidly growing demand for its highly innovative products and robust pipeline.

Dlight delivered with partner Buck GMBH external lighting solution for the new facility. Vihor 2 External Light comes fully approved by SEAI, ACA & EEE.
