Weltec Engineering Ltd.

Waterford

Weltec Engineering was established in Waterford in 2000 and has grown steadily since then in size and reputation as a leading mechanical, electrical, process engineering and contracting company.

Our team were delighted to work on the lighting design & supply for the upgrade of their Head Office space in Waterford City. Our main objective was to ensure the client’s vision was met, this was achieved by using lighting solutions from our brand partner Lightnet, a brand that our client were familiar with from previous projects. Working with Lightnet, allowed us full flexibility, across their substantial range of products available, their cutting edge technology and the fact they produce every aspect of LED lighting in their state of the art facilities across Europe.

The project was delivered in a phased program. All the works were carried out on the Ground floor as phase 1 including the reception area, boardroom, office space and canteen and we have just completed the final lighting delivery which was for Phase 3 (August 2023). This part of the project consisted of the 1st floor areas from open plan areas, BIM Modelling offices and cellular offices.

All lighting throughout was upgraded to high efficiency LED with a long life time, reducing the environmental impact and overall energy consumption yet giving the correct levels of light required. The high efficiency of LED and a specific use of the correct optics ensured illumination directly where it was required. Allowing for a DALI controllable lighting package in the open plan offices ensured lighting is set to the correct levels of output meaning the products do not function at 100% output thus saving more energy and prolonging the life time of each luminaire.

Lightnet was utilised for the majorty of task lighting on this project. To supplement the main task lighting we added some accent lighting from brands Light4U and Karizma Luce.  Some feature wall lights from Aromas Del Campo and Vibia were used in circulation spaces and the reception to provide a warm welcoming feeling and inviting ambience as you entered the building to the reception space. As you walk through the floors, you can see the main task areas are defined by Lightnet’s linear range, Matric. We utilised the G3 for suspended luminaires and the F3 for the framed recessed for some of the drop ceilings. For the cellular offices, circular luminaires were used to ensure excellent lux levels on the main task area. Supplementary lighting from Karizma Luce was also used here to ensure an extra layer of lighting.

We were thrilled to be apart of this project for a local business and wish Weltec all the best in their new modern office space.
