Resident Launches 2019 Collection

Resident launched a number of new products at Euroluce, Salone Del Mobile 2019.

The exhibition entitled “Primary Ideas” featured new pendant, table and floor lighting from the hands of accomplished designers Philippe Malouin, Tim Rundle and Cheshire Architects. Resident places human needs and desires at the centre of it all. Their collective understanding is that an object should improve the everyday. They design products that help us to host, work, share, recharge, relax and collapse.

Since founded in 2011 by Simon James and Scott Bridgens, Resident has worked with a select group of talented designers across multiple disciplines including industrial design, architecture, furniture design and sculpture. Their continued progression within the areas of decorative lighting and material exploration was evident from visiting their stand during the Milan Design Week. A broad range of materials was evident throughout their new releases, this includes Fibreglass, Glass, Bronze, Cork and Paper.

Cast Light

Designed by Philippe Malouin, Cast combines the depth and texture of fibre reinforced polymers, combined with a warm LED light source, to create a unique and inspirational feature lighting piece.

Resident offers this product as standard as Straight, Circle and Oblong, however many other configurations are possible, to meet the specific needs of a space.

Bloom Floor Lamp & Large Pendant

bloom pendant and floor lamp

The Bloom superelliptical shade form is inspired by the gentle dynamic flow of paper lanterns. Its glorious lit effect is the result of transparency and light. Blooms distinct character is evident both in its on/off state, creating a piece that can be appreciated by all. Dlight supplied a number of the original Bloom pendant to an office project in 2018, we look forward to including the new members of the collection to projects of a similar nature.

About the Designer; Tim Rundle

Designer Tim Rundle

Tim Rundle is a London based Industrial Designer with experience across furniture, lighting, consumer products, technology and transport. His work has grown to focus on the design of products and systems that exist at the intersection between architecture and its inhabitants. His approach is driven by a fascination for the relationship people build with the objects and spaces that surround them and grounded by a deep, almost obsessive understanding of how products come to exist through the industrial manipulation of materials.

Fulcrum Lamp

Fulcrum Lamp Cork Material

A new addition to the Resident family, Fulcrums shade can be rotated with the gentle sweep of a finger, raising the light output from a soft glow to full brightness as the shade pivots through a sequence of cantilevered compositions. Resident and Cheshire Architects created a luxurious sand-cast bronze base and Japanese paper shade, the Fulcrum Lamp uses its classically rooted two-part format to explore a rich dialect of material and mass.
